Our Top 100 rating system
As we’ve embarked on this journey, we started to wonder how the courses were ranked, and Rob, our ideas man, reckoned we should devise our own ranking system… so we tried!
BUT – it’s bloody hard! So after realising we’re no golf course experts, just a couple of dreamers, we decided we’d compile a Top 5 then a Top 10 as we do more courses, and some noteable mentions, and as we play more courses, we’ll see if any jump into the Top 5/10 – if we can remember them all!!!

Swinley Forest
This place just has an aura, and it’s somewhere you simply have to find a way to play
Trump International Aberdeen
Perhaps the most perfect place I’ve ever played golf, and it’s going to be some course that beats this!
Wentworth
If Carlsberg did perfect golf days, it’s Wentworth in the sun. WHAT A PLACE
Dumbarnie Links
As far as a Top 100 experience, in it’s entirety goes, Dumbarnie is hard to beat, simply magnificent place
Formby
Formby is a course and club I describe as… classy! It’s the right level of manicured; it’s easy on the eye, and it’s a little different to the other Golf Coast courses
Hankley Common
Hankley Common had me purring, it had a bit of everything, and I found out what all the fuss was about with the Surrey Belt of courses!
Gleneagles Queen's
The little sister is feisty. That front 9 had me hooked, it’s a rollercoaster ride
Carnoustie
Carnoustie jumped up my rankings after I played it again, albeit in very benign conditions, I started to understand the way the course was routed, the crescendo it builds to, and the conditioning. Sadly, most will play it when the wind is up and it’s brutal, but if you can try to take it in, you’ll be thoroughly rewarded.
Hillside
Having played it twice now, I can vouch that it’s a wonderful place to play golf. That back 9 is a highlight reel
Hindhead
It was the very first sandbelt heathland I ever played, and it really didn’t disappoint. The front 9 is unmatched for drama
